Objective: to describe the evidence of the relationship between parental styles and practices in the development of children in early childhood. Method: This is an integrative review of the literature, whose steps were respected, however for greater methodological rigor we chose to use the methodological structure developed by the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) and the checklist Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR). The survey comprised articles published in Portuguese, English and Spanish, from 2018 to 2023 and which had their full version available free of charge, indexed in the Virtual Health Library (VHL) databases, including Lilacs, Medline and BDENF; PubMed; Scopus; PsycInfo and Embase. The following terms present in the Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS) were used: "Family Power", "Child", "Infant", "Pre-school" and "Newborn". Results: 30 studies were selected to compose this review. Most studies were carried out in the USA and European countries. Regarding the methodological nature, 25 are quantitative (83.3%) and 5 are qualitative (16.7%). Conclusion: This review clarifies and discusses parental practices and styles that influence child development, which suggests that these are a possible locus of intervention by health professionals to promote the family's quality of life, while also favoring development full and positive for this and future generations. Finally, we identified recent and robust scientific evidence that indicates that the style and practices of parents/guardians have a strong immediate and long-term impact on child growth and development, especially when such attitudes prevail during early childhood.
